Skiing injuries - how to avoid them

Conditions appear to make the point of this ski season and runs much doubt that you have booked a week away from the annual. However, there is always the nagging feeling that in mind to cut it, may be short due to injury. Death is rare and many of us to get small injuries, but most of us saw someone, they are out of the mountains from time to time wearing it. Everything from a dislocated thumb, dislocated shoulder, fractures and head injuriescould occur, but the most common of all is the knee, 25% of all accidents.

Types of knee injuries:

In addition to being removed at the side of the knee is twisted slightly damaged. The fact that the foot and ankle are held rigidly in ski boat and this means that if you "catch an edge", or use the ski stuck in a fall, feet and ankles are fixed and the knee it takes. Injuries range from a simple cartilage tear in a much more seriousDislocation. The three most common injuries are: -

Meniscus tear:
There are two menisci, one on the inside of the knee and the other outside. These are pads of cartilage and act as shock absorbers and stabilizers. If someone crashes into you, in that most of the violations outside of the knee, that is the kind of thing that might cause a meniscus problem.

Medial collateral ligament (MCL):
The hotel is located on the inside of the knee, is the type ofInjuries experienced by beginners, because the position of the legs in the winter.

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL):
attributed mainly to skiers and often from a fall. Progress in the construction of skis have come a long way to reduce the risk of broken legs, but not ACL injury.

Injury prevention:

Regularly check the gear and the links. Make sure that shoes fit well and keep it fixed: ankles are broken away from the slopesvery common. Consider wearing a helmet. There was a time when bike helmets were not cool, but you will save your life.

Note: the conditions and terrain. Late in the season, the slopes are often in the early morning cold, but by mid-afternoon, the snow is like porridge. All this will have an impact on skis.

This is a festival very physically tiring, ready for it. Prepare your heart and circulatory system (cycling is a good preparation) and improve your basic skills andBalance Pilates and Yoga.

Stop when you are tired. The second week of a break of six days, when the time when the most accidents. Take frequent breaks and be sure to eat enough and keep hydrated.

Do not drink on the slopes. A cup of hot wine (have you tried Grand Marnier in it?) Has launched an appeal for lunch, but to save the night.

Do not look for a trend, the capacity if someone tries to convince you.

Take some lessons availablebefore going on holiday or just when you arrive.

Keep your eyes open: The European tracks are always busy, especially during school holidays, and many accidents occur as a skier out of control and crashes into you.

Do not forget your insurance!
